I have been playing with the idea to enter Leica’s rabbit hole for a long time now, and the ideal entry point would be the ‘cheap’ Leica CL of course.
I owned one, with the mandatory 40 and 90mm lenses and a super clean Jupiter 8 on top, but had to sell them some time later. Wonderful camera and lenses they were, but certainly only the entry point for much more expensive Leica stuff. Continue reading “Go Cheap! But don’t compromise on quality!”
I liked my Fuji X100, I loved the X30 (might even get one again…)! And part of what I liked was the gorgeous film simulations.
Provia, Velvia and the others, among them a very passable B&W mode. Not the Acros of the new X-Pro2 for sure, but nice and contrasty in it’s red-filter-flavor. At last we can chose freely what look we want! Well done Fuji!
Wait! What am I saying? Film simulations? Let me think… FILM SIMULATIONS!

Why do we fall for certain cameras?
“The camera does not mater, it’s the photographer!”
“The camera is just a box with a lens!”
We all heard this, we all nodded wisely and went on arguing about one camera’s merits versus another. But why do we chose one specific camera over others. Where is the trigger that makes us shell out for a Leica, a Nikon, a Sony or another Fuji? For a fixed lens, an SLR….?

I think there are two levels of choice when you try to find the camera that’s right for you.
The first level is easy, it’s natural. It’s the choice of the right kind of tool. Just as the watchmaker won’t use a mechanic’s wrench or a stonemason won’t even think of using a cobbler’s hammer. Instead they use tools designed for their specific trade. Just as there’s cameras designed for landscape photography, for street photography etc. Continue reading “The right tool for the Job”
The so called Red Bridge is one of the main markers in Luxembourg City. In fact, it’s official name is the ‘Grande-Duchesse Charlotte Bridge’ and it was planned in 1957. Construction began in 1962 and finished in 1965. Continue reading “The Red Bridge”

What to do when G.A.S. attacks? What can I do when another Gear Acquisition Syndrome rears it’s ugly head?
I am usually sucked in by all those gear oriented sites on the net. I fall for every new kid… no, camera on the block and start imagining how that new piece of gear will improve my photography. How this new lens will open such amazing new horizons for me. Continue reading “When G.A.S. Attacks…”
Every day you stumble over those blogs that propose some ‘a photo a day for a year’ challenge. Or it might be some ‘one camera, one lens’ thing.
Why don’t I like those?
Let me say that for me, photography is not only the fact to have a camera with you occasionally and snap some pictures at random. It’s rather something I feel deep in myself, something I love to do, something that fills me with all kinds of good mojo.

Yes, and no boxing video…. sorry, but ugly old me is not capable of doing this. I don’t want to bore anyone to death. So Snappy’s gone now, and will hopefully arrive in Canada, in the hands of Zach within some short days, perhaps in time for a nice shot of his Christmas tree? I really look forward to getting all your pictures from all … Continue reading Snappy’s on his way to Canada!
I have an idea….. doesn’t happen too often, so you better listen up!
I’ve got his plastic fantastic Canon Snappy S fixed focus all automatic camera lying around, and I wonder if it wouldn’t be fun to make it travel.

I’d like to send it to someone who’s interested, accompanied by a leaflet explaining the ‘Travelling Snappy’ rules. Continue reading “The amazing Travelling Snappy”
Call me a hopeless Apple fanboy…. you’re welcome! What I know is that until July 2006 I was a PC guy, I built my PC’s, I upgraded my PC’s (far too often) and I built a loooong stream of them. Then I got an iMac, and it’s still working. It’s my daughter’s computer right now. I never was tempted with updating (not that it would be easy), and the Macs have a way longer life than any PC, well worth the higher price. And never ran any anti-virus software since 2006 on multiple Macs in my family. Just somme common sense keeps me virus-free….. until now. Continue reading “Lightroom, Photos…. where to go from here?”
OK world, let me get back to business at last. It’s been way too long since the last post.
What’s new you ask me? Well, getting on with life is one thing, and doing some creative photography stuff is another. So let me give you some ideas about how to develop your slide film at home. And by the way, I didn’t sell my Olympus Trip 35!
Can’t be done they said, they being the guy from my photography store. Too tight margins for temperature control. You need an automatic thingamagic to do this. Continue reading “Slide development at home”
