About a Camera… again!
Yes, this is again about one of my three remaining cameras. About the smallest of them and the one I took most of my preferred photos with.
The glorious Olympus XA2
Of course I could go on about it’s great, sharp lens. About it’s very accurate exposure system.
ASS-ing around!
You digital people don’t know how good your life is! You see dramatic light and shade, just switch to black and white! You see gorgeous colours, you switch to colour!
With film you’re set!
Why I’m down to just THREE cameras!
…and four lenses!
No, it’s not because I’ve been mostly sitting at home for over three months now nursing my foot. Even before I pared down my camera stable to these three cameras.
They each represent a camera class in it’s own and I’ll first try to explain why I kept these specific cameras.
Three years already!
It’s been three years today that I started this blog!
Very few posts at first, then I picked up steam and got into the habit and have published about 260 posts more or less regularly.
I think I have not bored anyone to death until now, so I think I’ll continue.
Here’s one photograph from the very first roll of film I shot after gradually going back to film from digital. It’s from the 4th of January 2013, early morning around 7h30… bloody cold!

My first blogging steps were still 2 years in the future!
I want to ride my Bicycle…..
Just to quote Queen!

I don’t know what it is but those bicycles have always held some appeal for me, photographically speaking. Of course I’m not riding one myself. Not the very sporty guy. I prefer walking, prefer it by far.
Sometimes I wonder….
…if I should not try medium format one day.

OK, I already used medium format cameras, albeit crappy ones. I own an Agfa Synchro Box, a family heirloom. And also a Kodak Junior 620. The problem with those cameras are the following:
A Must-Read!
For anyone interested even only marginally in film photography, this is an absolute must-read!
Published by Steven Dowling of Kosmo-Photo fame, it is a very precise and comprehensive overview of the state of film photography, it’s future and it’s challenges. And well-written too.
How fast do you Write?
Here’s a question I’d like to address to all you fellow bloggers out there!
How fast do you write?

I don’t mean the number of words per minute you type. What I’d like to know is how long does it take you to write a blog post?
Searching for alternatives….
For once this is something not (entirely) photography related! If you’re not interested in computers…. sorry, not for you. I’ll be back with photography stuff very soon.
It all began for me in 2006, when I bought my first iMac (the 17″ white plastic one. Apple calls it Polycarbonate, sounds noble. I have been an ardent defender of Macdom ever since! Call me a fanboy, I’m guilty of that, but I have my reasons.

I sold that iMac late last year, after 10 years of loyal services. And as far as I know it still works. Sure it’s usefulness had decreased by then. Older OS only, slow with newer software…. but it still worked for standard stuff.
Don’t do that to them!
He brightened your living-room for days. He spread joy and good vibes. He stood guard over your presents.
And now you will do THIS to him!
The Camera that Started it All!
I have been looking through my photos of the past years (it’s end-of-year-retrospective-time anyways) and I stopped at some photos from November of 2012.
And no, they are not film photos!
These are photos I made with the Fuji X100 I had just bought (used) to once and for all replace my Canon DSLR gear I didn’t use much.
